LEARNING BASQUE

Among the languages of Europe, the Basque language is unique, and belongs to no linguistic family despite efforts of scholars to find an affiliation. Those who have a basic command of Spanish or another Romance language may find the grammar and structure of the Basque language more understandable than those who know English only. The course, originally designed for the independent Spanish learner, has been translatede into Englishwith additional brief grammatical explanations.

The text is divided into two parts:

The greatest difficulty for the learner of Basque resides in the certain relationships not found or implied in English verbs. Developed by Xabier Gereno, a teacher in Bilbao, the course is in the dialect of Bilbao, the capital of Vizcaya, one of the three provinces of Spain in Which the Basque live.
