Dance Songs
This audio-cassette/book program of La-li-luo or fItige dances and songs are an important tradition in Central Yunnan province, China. These dances are vigorously aerobic and much favored by young people at local festivals in the high plateaus and mountains of central Yunnan. Background information on the setting and culture of this dance-song tradition are given in the illustrated book as well as musical notation (Western and Chinese) of both vocal and instrumental versions of the 20 dance-songs. A glossary of important Chinese characters is provided. The recordings were made in var-ious areas of Central Yunnan. The program was developed by ethnomusicologist Alan R. Thrasher, Wesleyan University, CT. 1 cassette (29 min.) and 141-p. book.
