Speaking
Chinese in China
This second-year conversation course teaches Chinese the way it is currently being used in China. This program of lively and colloquial dialogs is suitable for anyone who has completed the first-year study of Chinese. It can follow Speak Mandarian or any other comparable first-year course in Mandarin.
Pinyin and Yale transcriptions are used throughout the text, but correspondence tables are given between Wade-Giles romanization and pinyin so the text can be used regardless of the romanization system learned previously. Both fuH and simplified characters are provided. The course was developed by Hsu Ying, Beuing Foreign Language Institute, and J. Marvin Brown, University of California.
Speaking Chinese in China: 6 cassettes (5 hr ) and 314-p text.
