Cardiris
Cardiris is designed to improve the day-to-day life of business people, whose desks are usually crowded with business cards. Business cards can be placed in a Rolodex. However this only gives limited capability, the card information cannot be shared, transferred or transported easily (think of a business trip).
Cardiris
is designed to complement nicely the I.R.I.S. DataPen
product. It archives business cards in a few seconds
with the capability to insert specific notes concerning
the contact. It is therefore an ideal tool to be used
during exhibitions, where a systematic procedure needs
to be applied for all cards and no time can
be spent on editing and correcting the data.
Thanks to an advanced compression and display technique,
the image on the screen has a quality comparable
to the original business card, which means that the
original card can be discarded. Cardiris
can then be used as an electronic Rolodex. However,
already at this simple level of utilization, the
information can now be exported, transmitted
on a network or transported on a notebook computer.
If the information on the card is readable, the
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) process
will automatically recognize the text on the card
and will also identify the different fields (company
name, first name, last name, city, zip code, phone,
fax, etc...). Accuracy of course depends on
the printing quality and exoticism of the card layout.
Advanced editing and correction facilities increase
the productivity.
Cardiris contains a contact database. The user can also insert his own notes for each business card. The information can be easily exported to popular contact management software and databases.
