OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software is designed to process large volumes of printed material and to convert memos, contracts, newspaper and magazine articles, invoices, reports etc. into text format. By clicking on the "Scan&Recog" button in these programs, you can see how your text is being converted. Whether your source documents is a hard copy or whether it has been received by internal fax, OCR captures its alphanumeric characters and assigns the codes needed by your computer to create files for its word processing, spread sheet or database programs.

The Fountain Image Transformation technology used in FineReader OCR has overcome every obstacle to complete accuracy of Optical Character Recognition. Texts of any quality can be scanned and will be read correctly. With FineReader OCR, your system automatically learns new typefaces, adjusts scanner intensity, and reconstructs illegible characters. It is unaffected by broken or blurred type, and replicates Russian text exactly without distorting it. To create a text file, you need merely to load your Russian document into the scanner and click on the "Scan & Read" button in the toolbar. FineReader OCR supports Microtek, Hewlett Packard etc, and it is TWAIN - compatible.
