Installation Notes

It is recommended that you should delete beta 3,4, or 5 before installing this final release, and exit all applications before starting the installation. Otherwise the installation program may have trouble to update some Microsoft DLLs.

If you experience crash probelm with MFC40.DLL (a Microsoft DLL under \windpws\system directory), please check the version number of this file using File Explorer (select the file and click File - Properties). Please make sure it is Version 4.1.6038. We found newer version of this file supplied with other MFC program is not 100% compatible with NJSTAR 4.00. If you got such an newer version, we suggest you to rename it, and install NJSTAR again, so the correct version will be installed by NJSTAR installton.

Sometime the old NJStar Registry Keys created by previous beta versions cause MFC40.DLL to crash. We found that deleting all NJSTAR registry keys fixes the problem. Plese Use REGEDIT.EXE (under \windows folder) to delete following key if you have this problem:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NJStar

If you do not know how to unzip a zip file, we recommend a shareware program WINZIP 6.2, which is very easy to use. We have user reports that WINZIP 6.1 may corrupt files when unzipping file. If you have problem installing NJSTAR 4.0 after unzipping with WINZIP 6.1, we suggest you download WINZIP 6.2.
