Summary:
- To correct display problem with cached video card.
- To add support for HZ coding standard
Certain computers with cached video cards (ATI, Diamond, etc) or a number
of note book computers (Toshiba, NEC, IBM ThinkPad, WinBook) may have problem
displaying Chinese characters in prompt line. The symptoms include missing
characters in prompt line and repetitive input method in input method list.
This patch will correct such problem. Due to the request of our users,
this patch will allow TwinBridge to support the 7-bit HanZi (HZ) coding
standard. Once installed, TwinBridge system will automatically recognize
and display HZ coded characters under GB mode.
- (1). Cache setting with the display card.
- If the Chinese character is cached in your TwinBridge System, you can
copy this file into the TwinBridge directory. You should add one line "Display=0"
into the "TwinBridge System" section in TWIN.INI, which is located
in the Windows Directory. i.e.
- It looks like:
- [TwinBridge System]
- ...
- Display=0
- [0: Display Chinese through GDI.
- 1: Display Chinese through display driver.]
- [Other sections...]
- (2). Color Printers.
- After installing TWIN.DLL, TwinBridgge V3.3 can support more color
printers.
- (3). Compatibility with MS Printing System.
- After installing TWIN.DLL, TwinBridge V3.3 can support MS Printing
System.
- (4). Support of HZ coding standard.
- After installation, HZ coded characters will be displayed automatically
under the GB code setting.

Installation guide
- Copy the patch40.exe to your TwinBridge directory, i.e. C:\TWIN40
- Run patch40.exe to expand the files
- Answer yes to overwrite the existing files
Features and bug fixes:
- Bug fix for input method: Description: message "TWINIMM Error...."
when inputting Chinese characters using Pinyin or Simple Stroke.
- Fix the compatibility problem with PowerPoint V7.0.
- Bug fix for meta utility: Description: Chinese TrueType Font characters
can not be converted as windows Meta format.
- Bug fix for Font Editor: Description: Random crash while running FontEditor.
- Compatibility fix with HP-DeskJet 660C Printer under Windows 3.X: Description:
Printing problem with HP-DeskJet660C under windows V3.1 or V3.11. You will
need to insert Printsmall=1 under the section [TwinBridge System] in twin40.ini
file located in your Windows directory (i.e. C:\WINDOWS), then restart
TwinBridge system.
- Compatibility fix with HP-DeskJet 660C Printer under Windows 95: Description:
Printing problem with HP-DeskJet660C under windows 95, you will need to
download the newest printer driver V7.0-6 xx from Microsoft Corporation.
Or change the printer driver to HP-DeskJet550C, and insert Printlarge=1
under Display=0 in the section [TwinBridge System] in twin40.ini which
is in C:\WINDOWS or C:\WIN95, then save the file and restart TwinBridge.
- Compatibility fix with printers. Description: Unexpected printout of
chinese. Insert Printsmall=1 or Printlarge=1 under [TwinBridge System]
in twin40.ini file, you will need to experiment which setting will solve
the problem. Save twin40.ini and restart TwinBridge system after changing
this setting each time.
- Bug fix for two-way dictionary: Description: Error message "Dictionary
Error" while running two-way dictionary under Windows V3.1, Windows
V3.11 or Windows 95.
- Bug fix for Postscript printer: Description: Chinese characters printout
blank from the PostScript printer, Change the Outline font Threshold setting
from 256 to 64 under Display Engine Setup.

PATCH40J.EXE
|
This patch file includes TBIMEJ1.EXE, JP40IME.DLL,
TWINJ40.DLL and TWINJJ.DLL.
Installation Guide:
- Backup the original files by copying the above files to a backup directory.
- Copy PATCH40J.EXE to your TwinBridge directory, i.e. C:\TWINJ40
- Run the patch file to expand the files
- Answer yes to over write the old files.
- Restart TwinBridge.
Bug fix and new features
- Japanese "A" can not be shown on the screen.
- Japanese Hankaku could not be shown on screen correctly.
- Support ISO-2202JP code standard.
